On you marks, Get Set, Go: Goals, Goals, Goals

Yay Captain Emma G returns and brings the sunshine with her!
Natty was honoured with this week’s warm up. This was instantly regretted by the team as she put us through our paces showing us that an Argentinian warm up is somewhat superior to that of the mighty BromBecks L2’s. Under captain instructions she did however ensure a toilet stop was scheduled for in between sprints.
Thanks to Natty’s solid warm-up we started the game with a high level of intensity. From the off much of our play was spent in Blackheath’s half of the pitch. We were able to build pressure and it was clear the side had taken on board Wednesday’s training focus on decision making and passing. It wasn’t long before our efforts were rewarded through Anna who slotted home our first goal from a neat cross from Millie. At half time we were 1-0 up and the score line didn’t feel like a fair reflection of our performance. Once coach Friz had pinpointed our areas for development, Jas had a quick rest on the floor and G took a quick shower we headed out with an increased intensity and desire to create a score line which would reflect our performance.
Not to disappoint our fans the team stepped up to take full control of the second half and a further 6 goals were put past the Blackheath defence. Ruby took home a hattrick after scoring her third goal with an outstanding reverse strike, further goals also came from Natty and Emma G but the real highlight was when Liz stepped up to take the straight strike at the top of the D and fired home a deceptive push pass that fooled not only our players but also the keeper! Rids looks like you’ve got competition for that straight strike position ?
A special mention should go to Anna for her return to hockey this season, surely playing BromBecks L2s surpasses international curling duties?!! Also to Durman and Ciara on their league debut for the L2s. A fantastic all round team effort to get the Mighty 2s their first 3 points of the season. Next week the team are away against Burnt Ash, here’s hoping for more goals, goals, goals!

Player of the Match – Ruby (hattrick)
DoD – Boomer (who did we play?)
