A light drizzle and a damp breeze greeted the teams as they entered Pitch 2 at Teddington HC for this semi-final of the London Leagues 22-23 season. As winners of London South, Brombeck faced runners up in the London North, Teddington, a side that were the round 1 opposition in the T2 Cup, but were unable to field a team.

A lively opening few minutes saw the home side draw the first short corner, the only one of the half for them, but were unable to take advantage. BromBeck started to apply pressure and won the first short corner only minutes later. Noah's flick was saved but another chance presented itself in the 9', followed by two more in the next minute, the last of which James slammed in, past a stationery Teddington keeper, to chalk up the first goal and take the lead. Keeping the momentum going with a high work rate, lovely link up play down the left wing, resulted in a cross to Jayden at the top of the D, who found Jamie, causing some confusion amongst the Teddington defenders. With the ball loose, Jamie poked it through to Fynn who was waiting in the perfect position to tap in. 2 - 0 in the first 12 minutes. The home side were rarely making it as far as the BromBeck D and most of the play was in their half. The 21' saw another goal from Fynn, taking a deflection off a defender's stick but after some umpire discussion, the goal was disallowed as it was not clear if the shot had come from inside or outside the D.

After the break, Teddington came out a renewed side and for most of the second half, play was pretty end-to-end action. BromBeck conceded three short corners but a combination of Sam saves and missed shots, meant that none made a difference to the scoreline. The boys were as much in defensive as attacking mode with everyone playing their part. In an unfortunate foot incident, Callum was denied his 12th goal of the season in the 36' but after a fantastic run from Toby, he got himself and the ball in the D for Jamie to work his magic and pop home goal 3 in the 39'. It was an exciting game to watch and Teddington were getting themselves in the BromBeck 23 and D much more than in the first half but just couldn't get through. Shortly after Teddington's third short corner, the ball was swiftly taken back to their end and Teo managed to get on the end of a perfectly weighted and timed pass from Noah to stick home the fourth goal. Spookily, it was if Ben knew he was going to score.

This had been a great game of hockey, testing both sides, but ultimately Brombeck were able to create and finish more chances and defend well enough to keep a clean sheet. With that, both teams headed to the other semi final between Southgate and Spencer which was being decided on penalty shuffles. After some great goals, it was Spencer who won and became our opponents for the final.
