The U16 girls played London Wayfarers away at Battersea Park, on Sunday. A late 3pm pushback and Sunday train service meant spending a large proportion of the afternoon travelling. After getting to the pitch and completing a lovely warm up around the park, we realised we only had 9 players including goalkeeper Maria, which should of put us on the backhand, but did not.

We started the game very strong, dominating against what seemed like an army of Wayfarers (who had 6 subs!). We used the width very well and attacked with pace. Defenders Claudia, Grace and Katy cleared the ball with calmness and onto our midfielders Mia and Nina, who looked very threatening, and finally giving the ball to forwards Aviyah and Kathleen who had some fantastic shots at goal. The girls showed grit and determination through the entirety of the game, winning every 50/50 and ensuring they moved around the pitch as a team.

Towards the end of the game the girls started to tire, as expected, but continued to work hard and show why we deserve to win the game. The game ended with us winning 4-1, and the girls should be extremely proud of their team performance!
