So here we go guys, the match report like you asked for, even though one has already organised everything else - Pitch, Team, Umpire, GK, Teas, Teamsheet, Oppo - I still manage to find time to write a summary of yesterdays game, Go Me :)

On a bright and sunny Sunday afternoon, by miracle we finally were able to fulfill a mixed fixture even though we had conceded in last round, but hey if it means we're in the easier side of the draw and get an automatic bye in the next round we'll take it.

With an afternoon push back to accommodate the 'walking dead' from Mark 'now 40' Ashby's party from the night before, we were set to face our nemesis from last year Gillingham Anchorians, with redemption our one soul tactic for the game....oh and maybe not to throw up being a side note to this tactic.

So the first half, not the best half of the two, honestly can't remember much, I think their first goal was from a short corner and the second was a howler from some poor defending - we begrudgingly went into half time 2-0 with all the possession and some missed chances.

With the booze sweats in full swing and some words from our captain Mark 'oldest man on the team' Ashby , we went into the second half with determination to play a lot better than the first. The scoreline was quickly bought back to 2-2 with the momentum in our favor......until a couple of unconventional tackles from Daisy 'only game she's played this season' Ridout saw her take a break for a couple of minutes on the request of the umpire's green card. Soon after Gillingham were back ahead to 3-2. In BromBeck style we were obviously not going to take it and quickly made in 3-3 from a Drucey cracker (and hat-trick) with 5 minutes to go. With the game finishing in a gridlock the game would have to be decided by the old fashioned way of P-Strokes.

With the toss won, Mark 'you had one job to find a GK this week' Ashby decided to go first. Not to be off put by a very tall and fills much of the goal GK for the oppo, Mark 'with a very expensive tab from the night before' Ashby steps up and God knows manages to use the GK as a reflective board and get the ball in the back of the net, 1-0 to Brombeck. The oppo steps up and lacked the power to see it over the line, the score remained 1-0 to BB. Next was myself (Charlotte Ridout if you're wondering who is writing this) who for some reason whilst aiming for bottom right manages to pull across to get it hard in the bottom left, taking full advantage of the GK's tall frame, 2-0 to BB. The oppo score a textbook stroke and it was 2-1. In comes Esme 'Soon to be Couldrey' Barber, and like a pro makes a clean stroke into the netting for the score to to go to 3-1. Gillingham were still on our tail and brought it to 3-2. Steps up Drucey and slots in beautifully past the GK in style, 4-2 to BB. With the oppo now on the back foot and under pressure to score to stay in the competition. Tensions were high and with a beautiful diving save Jasmine Parlmer-Garrick managed to save the stroke and see BromBeck through to the next next round of the National Tier 2 Mixed Cup.
